( dpa )- Palestinian militant groups, including Hamas, celebrated on Thursday an armed attack against a religious school in Jerusalem that killed at least eight Israelis and wounded seven.
Militants fired in the air, threw firecrackers in the streets, and drivers pressed on their cars horns. Other Palestinians delivered candies and sweets in the streets.
Mosques loudspeakers in Gaza also broadcast verses of the Koran, the Moslems holy book, and said "we congratulate our people for the heroic and selective attack in Jerusalem."
Sami Abu Zuhri, spokesman of the Hamas movement in Gaza told reporters that "this attack is selective operation, which is a reaction to the Israeli occupation's crimes and the massacres committed against civilians in the Gaza Strip."
At several Palestinian camps in southern Lebanon and at the outskirts of Beirut, Palestinians also celebrated the suicide attacks by firing machines guns into the air and distributing sweets at the entrances of the camp.
They were chanting "This is a revenge for Gaza."
Meanwhile, four Islamic Jihad (Holy War) militants were killed on Thursday night in an Israeli airstrike on a group of militants east of the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis, medics said.
Mo'aweya Hassanein, chief of emergency and ambulance services in the Palestinian Ministry of Health, said four Palestinians were killed in the Israeli airstrike on a group of people in southern Gaza Strip.
The group said in a statement that four of its members were killed in the airstrike on a group of militants east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip.
Witnesses said the militants were trying to launch rockets from the southern Gaza Strip at Israel, adding that an explosion was heard in the area.
