Russia is against Ukraine to join NATO

( ForUm ) - President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin doesn't see the necessity for Ukraine to join NATO.

He told that it in interview with printed mass media journalists from the countries - members of the "Group of eight". The interview is placed on the official site of the Russian President.

"We do not see any necessity in that, no one will attack Ukraine," he told.

According to Putin, Russia considers negatively the Ukrainian joining NATO, "UNIAN" reports.

"We think it injurious, because NATO is a military-political bloc. It is an additional irritating element in relationships with Russia," Putin added.

Putin considers as "chatter" talks that NATO's enlargement helps in struggle against terrorism. According to him, it has anything in common with common sense. "NATO in itself does not help to struggle against terrorism. Only the mutual cooperation helps to struggle against terrorism," he added.

The President of the Russian Federation also considers that the aggression from the side of "our partners on some directions" increases the pressure in the world."You say: "NATO and Ukraine. But do you know the polls of the public opinion? 60-70% of citizens or even more than 80 % are against Ukraine to join NATO.
