Turkish ambassador calls expanded parliamentary ties with Iran

( IRNA ) - Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Husun Gurcan Turkoglu called for expanding parliamentary ties between Iran and Turkey.

Turkoglu made the remarks in a meeting with the head of Iran-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group, in which he expressed satisfaction with the recent visit by Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad Adel to his country.

"Exchange of visits by high-ranking officials of the two countries will help expansion of bilateral ties in different fields," he noted.

According to the Majlis' Press Department, the Head of the Iran-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group Ali-Akbar Aghaie, on his part called for developing parliamentary ties between the two countries..

Expressing satisfaction about the positive trend of exchanges between the two friendly countries, Aghaie called for further expansion of ties in the economic, commercial and security sectors.

He expressed the Majlis' readiness to bolster parliamentary cooperation including promoting activities of parliamentary friendship groups of the two sides.

The MP assessed the increase in visits by Iranian and Turkish political and parliamentary officials as a clear proof of good ties and close cooperation between the two countries.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Aghaie appreciated Turkey's independent stance on Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.
