IMF MISSION PLANS TO MEET AGAIN WITH HEAD OF CABINET OF MINISTERS (CM) OF AZERBAIJAN

By the end of its visit, the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will draw up a written document, in which it will set forth a number of recommendations for the government of Azerbaijan. The initiative was voiced during the meeting of the mission, headed by the deputy director of the IMF department on Middle East and Central Asia Vitali Kramarenko with the chairman of the country’s government Artur Rasizade, the CM told Trend.

"During the mission, the IMF representatives noted they have a number of recommendations, particularly, related to the issues of arrears and reducing of subsidies, the oil revenues management and so on. They also stated, they can put forward these recommendations in a written form on the results of the mission. The next meeting with the Prime Minister on 29-30 August is not ruled out, the source noted.

The mission’s spokesman has also recommended to discuss these issues with the Ministries and Departments in charge of this or that sector.

The mission’s work started on 24 August. The visit will last till 31 August. The mission’s objective is the assessment of the financial policy and the basic structural reforms under preparation by the government of Azerbaijan for the remaining period of 2005. The mission will also consult on the draft of the state budget of Azerbaijan for 2006.
