At the meeting of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan was discussed work done in the first half of 2010 and the forthcoming challenges.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Justice, speaking at the board, the Minister Fikrat Mammadov said that new laws were adopted to provide a secure protection of human rights and improve the efficiency of justice, the judicial system was significantly improved, new courts were set up, opportunities for the appeal of citizens were facilitated, as well as were assumed measures to improve enforcement of court decisions. It was noted the exceptional importance of presidential decree on 15 July 2010 concerning the application of new laws, and it was mentioned the Ministry of Justice was given additional instructions.

On board discussed some spheres of activity in the area of Justice, as well as the work and challenges ahead to implement the State Program for the Development of Azerbaijani Justice, reports were heard.

It was noted that in the first half of this year, the Ministry has drafted 86 legal acts, aimed at bringing legislation into line with international standards and improving the welfare of the population, conducted legal review of the act 841, governing the various legal relationships. In the course of administrative control has been tested more than 13,000 municipal acts, and also raised questions about the involvement of 115 mayors to administrative liability for illegal actions.

Within six months of this year, authorities of notary of the country issued about 1,4 million of notarial acts, carried out over 154 thousand operations on state registration of civil status. The meeting discussed the tasks of the application of changes made to the legislation in relation to the improvement of registration procedures, identified the necessary measures. However, it was noted that during the reporting period 87  non-governmental organizations which play a key role in strengthening and promoting democracy underwent state registration and become an integral part of our modern society, 114 publications were registered.

Along with this, was noted the work being undertaken jointly with the World Bank under the project "Modernization of the justice system", it was stressed that the execution of the project is estimated by the World Bank as a exemplary.
In addition to the work done the meeting also discussed the existing shortcomings and problems, were given specific instructions for further improve of the legal services rendered to the population and consideration of citizens' appeals, improve administrative control over the activities of municipalities, strengthening human capacity, modernization of justice and judicial infrastructure through a wide application of advanced technologies.

At the meeting was also carried out state registration of number of non-commercial artificial persons.
