A soldier of the Turkish army was killed in firefight with militants of terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Hakkari Province, the Sabah newspaper reported on Friday.
Also a PKK militant was killed. The operation against the terrorists, which began in the morning, still continues.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK has lasted for over 25 years, claiming over 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognised as a terrorist organisation by both the UN and the EU.
