Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb.18 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /

The Georgian Foreign Ministry has expressed deep concern regarding reports quoting officials of the Russian Federation, regarding plans to integrate South Ossetia into the revenue and tax administration systems of the Russian Federation, Georgian Foreign Ministry's statement says.

If implemented, such a decision would represent a regrettable step backwards in the recent efforts of both sides to create positive dynamics in bilateral relations. This decision would also solidify the occupying regime on sovereign Georgian territory, the statement says.

Large scale military actions were launched in South Ossetia in Georgia on August 8, 2008.

Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military. Russia recognised the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia late in August. Tbilisi ended diplomatic relations with Moscow in response and has declared the two unrecognised republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.
