BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 19. The delegation headed by Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko visited the Educational and Simulation Center of the Baku branch of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Trend reports.
According to the information, during the visit, the guests got a firsthand look at the inner workings of the center and were given a lowdown on the university's activities. Students of the branch, among other things, showed off the ropes of the ambulance, called on the therapist's office, and visited the intensive care unit.
“Modern equipment is installed in the educational and simulation facility of the Baku branch. Our students and residents have the opportunity to work with robotic systems in this location, thereby enhancing and enhancing their practical skills to deliver the highest quality of medical care,” the rector of the branch, Professor Aziz Aliyev, told reporters following the visit.
He made it clear that the center has all the necessary bells and whistles for practicing laparoscopic and endoscopic surgeries, ultrasound, and angiography.
The good news is that the simulation training helps the center develop clinical thinking, teamwork, and emergency decision-making.
Medical professionals from prestigious Azerbaijani and Russian institutions who have specialized training in simulation training from Moscow's Sechenov University teach at the Center.
The Baku branch of the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education, I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia (Sechenov University), was established in 2015. The education is conducted by leading professors and teachers at Sechenov University in two areas: “Medical Business” (125 places, duration of study: 6 years) and the master's program ‘Industrial Pharmacy’ (10 places, duration of study: 2 years). Upon graduation, graduates receive a diploma from the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, which is automatically issued in Azerbaijan.
During the entrance campaign for the 2024–2025 academic year, the branch received approximately 400 applications from candidates. Out of these, 321 applications were accepted for the available 125 slots.
In the 2023/2024 academic year, the Baku branch hosted the fourth graduation in the specialty program "General Medicine" and the third graduation in the master's program "Industrial Pharmacy." Every year, 60-80 students from the branch complete internships at Sechenov University's leading clinics in Moscow.
Baku branch closely cooperates with pharmaceutical plant "R-Pharm," on the basis of which in Baku are held practical classes for masters in the specialty “Industrial Pharmacy.”
The branch also works hand in glove with over 30 medical institutions in Azerbaijan to give students hands-on experience.
