Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend K.Ramazanova / The Chairman of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's Ad Hoc Committee for Democratic Management, Chetin Kazak, briefed the media on 20 September that there are shortfalls in the Army of Azerbaijan.
" Azerbaijan states its readiness to hold reforms in the army to join NATO. We will be continuing to assist Azerbaijan in eliminating these shortfalls," Kazak said. Amongst the problems, he highlighted insufficient public control of the army and democratic control of the security system.
"The main fact is that Azerbaijan is interested in integrating into the NATO," Kazak said.
