EU Takes Maximum Sever Decision against Russian Federation: Georgian Parliamentary Chairman

Georgia, Tbilisi, 2 September / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia / The European Union took maximum sever decision against the Russian Federation, Lasha Jvaniya, Chairman of the Georgian Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations, said as a result of the EU summit on Georgia.

"EU supported Georgia unanimously, as well as condemned aggression and confirmed the territorial integrity of Georgia," Jvaniya said.

Jvaniya noted the fact that EU breaks the "strategic partnership plan with Russia until it will withdraw its military troops from Georgia". "If Russia will not fulfill the agreement by Sarkozy, Europe will meet again to take more severe decisions," Jvaniya said.

Recently, EU leaders met at the summit in Brussels and condemned "unacceptable" recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, however, they did not take concrete sanctions against the country. Furthermore, European countries leaders agreed with the proposal of British PRIME Minister Gordon Brown to suspend the talks on a new agreement regarding strategic partnership with Russia.
