Kazakhstan, Almaty, Feb.12 / Trend , R. Mashadihasanli / The Union of World Akhiska Turks launched official activity, President of the Union and Head of the NationalAkhiskaTurksCenter of Kazakhstan Ziyadin Ismikhan-oglu told Trend on Feb.12.
Ismikahn-oglu said leaders of Akhiska Turks, residing in nine countries- Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine and the United States, decided to form a Congress of World Akhiska Turks at the meeting in Ankara in June 2008.
In following meetings, it was renamed to the Union of World Akhiska Turks.
"The charter and other documents of the Union were adopted at the meeting held in Istanbul on Feb.10 and submitted to the Turkish government. The meeting of the Union was officially announced," Ismikhan-oglu said.
The leader of Akhiska Turks thanked Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva for the comprehensive support to Akhiska Turks living in Azerbaijan and wishing to return to their homelands in Georgia. The leader also said he plans to meet with her in a couple of days to discuss problems of Akhiska Turks in the region.
