Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb.18 / Trend corr N. Kirtskhalia /
Civil committees and initiative groups are being formed in Georgia to force President Mikheil Saakashvili to resign, National Forum head Kakhaber Shartava said at a briefing on Feb. 18.
Traditionalist Union representative Gubaz Sanikidze was made the coordinator of the organizations.
Sanikidze said the committees will work to raise awareness among citizens to dismiss the president.
"The committees aim to involve the society in the opposition movement. We will organize a civil sector to create a politically informed society that will participate in protests and force the president to resign," he said.
Several such committees operate in Azerbaijan.
Sanikidze said consultations with other opposition parties regarding the issue are underway.
