US State Secretary urges for Armenia-Azerbaijan breakthrough (UPDATED)

Tuesday in Washington there was held meeting between Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov and US State Secretary Hilary Clinton. According to the information provided by the site of US Department of State, Hilary Clinton welcomed Elmar Mamedyarov in the Administation, and noted that "Azerbaijan has a very strategic location that is one that is important regionally and globally ".

"We have a very close relationship on many important issues. Today, we're going to discuss how we can expand and deepen that relationship", - she said.

Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan in his turn noted, that he is sure about this meeting to move forward the strategic partnership which exists between Azerbaijan and United States.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is encouraging Armenia and Azerbaijan to solve a territorial dispute over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, AP reported. On Tuesday, she held separate meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian also to move the two countries toward a solution.

"The United States is committed to doing everything possible within the framework of the OSCE's Minsk Group to secure a breakthrough in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process," according to the statement of the US Department of State.
