Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko, who is currently on the visit in Ashgabat, has invited his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to visit Ukraine.
According to official Turkmen sources, in the first half of the day, the two presidents have met in the Turkmen capital. During the day, the talks will be held in an expanded format.
Diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Turkmenistan were established on Oct. 10, 1992. The basic instruments are the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Ukraine and Turkmenistan, Interstate Program on long-term economic cooperation for 2001-2010 and the Joint decree of the two presidents to construct and finance particularly important investment facilities of national importance in Turkmenistan.
