The meeting between Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton widely focused on all issues that are now important for Georgia, Georgia's Security Council Secretary Eka Tkeshelashvili said after the meeting in New York.
"A number of issues which concern not only Georgia but the entire region were discussed at the meeting," said Tkeshelashvili. The action plan that will protect the interests of Georgia was also considered, she said.
The UN General Assembly may make a statement on the concrete actions in support of Georgia, said State Minister for Reintegration Temur Yakobashvili, commenting on the meeting.
According to him, Georgia needs the support of a country like the United States. "But most important is that this support is expressed not only in words. When the policy of the United States is devised, support will grow into concrete actions and, perhaps we will hear about this during the General Assembly," noted State Minister.
