The Azerbaijani Armed Forces do not depend on the supply of ammunition by foreign countries anymore, Azerbaijani Defense Industry Minister Yaver Jamalov told journalists on Friday.
"Today, we are working to eliminate the dependence on armored techniques," Jamalov said. "In addition, we have installed modern arms systems on the armored techniques."
Jamalov said the ministry was in talks with Turkey's Otokar Company on the production of armored vehicles.
The minister's comments came as Azerbaijan marks the establishment of its Defense Industry Ministry today. A ministerial delegation led by Jamalov visited the Alley of Honors and laid a wreath at the tomb of Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The delegation also visited the Alley of Martyrs and laid flowers on the graves of those who died for the independence of Azerbaijan.
