Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 27 / Trend T. Hajiyev /
A Public Chamber of the Azerbaijani opposition, the "People's Parliament "could be created this week, Musavat Party Chairman, Isa Gambar told Trend on Monday.
"There are specific projects. Discussions have started and will continue. I believe we can achieve positive results," he said. "The debates are based on the proposals of the parties participating in the process to establish such an institution for social movement."
Baku hosted a forum for opposition and independent candidates who took part in the elections on Nov. 23.
The PFPA-Musavat political bloc initiated the forum, which saw the attendance of independent candidates and candidates of the opposition Azerbaijan National Independence Party. The Classic Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, the Azadlig Party, the Democratic World of Azerbaijan Party and the Azerbaijani People's Party were among the delegates. The meeting discussed elections and the post-election situation.
Some called for a proposal to establish an alternative to the Azerbaijani parliament, tentatively referred to as the "People's Parliament."
However, opposition party representatives opposed this initiative.
Delegates expect the next forum to take place on Dec. 28.
