Afghanistan's military funds for 2011 to be increased twice - Afghani General

Since 2011 Afghani army partly will take over security of country's regions and the state budget funds allocated for the military sector in 2011 will be increased twice, Afghani Defence Ministry's press secretary General Zahir Azimi said to Trend.

According to Azimi, the number of troops currently serving in Afghani army exceeds 152000
people.

A few months later the US troops will start to quit the country stage by stage
and the security of the country is planned to fully pass to Afghani army in 2014.

General Azimi said to Trend via phone from Kabul that there are 29 military training centres
currently serving in Afghanistan

According to him, since 21 March (the beginning of the New Year in Afghanistan) the security of regions will be handed over to the national army and this process will be accomplished until 2014.

Defence Ministry's spokesman said that the military expenses in 2010 allocated for salaries
were 28 billion afghani (650 million U.S. dollars) provided by the state budget, 12 billion afghani (265 million U.S. dollars) allocated by the United States. According to him, in 2011
six trillion afghani (132 billion dollars) were allocated and spent for all military forces (external and internal) and the military field as a whole by the United States. In 2011 this figure will be doubled.
