The broadcasting of ANS TV and Radio may be restored if the competition held for the same frequency is attended only by ANS, the Chairman of the National Television and Radio Council of Azerbaijan, Nushiravan Maharramli, said in an exclusive interview with Trend.

He said that it is a theoretical opinion, since the participation of ANS in the competition to restore the frequency will be discussed. The law does not clearly define if the TV channel whose activities have been terminated, may or may not participate in the competition. Today the fact is, that the TV and Radio Council has not prolonged the license for ANS. Therefore, if other TV channel participates in the competition, its chances will be more. It is linked with the law breaks in the activities of ANS, which caused non-extension of the license, Maharramli said.

He said that ANS has approached the state management, its laws and official warnings of the TV and Radio Council in an unserious manner. According to Maharramli, the euphotic approach of 1990s to the laws will not take place this time. Unfortunately, the essence of the matter is wrongly explained in the press. The external radio stations are continuing their activities in Azerbaijan. We have stopped the activities of the external stations broadcasted in other channel without permit because it is a state issue. Yesterday on November 24, I invited the official representative of ANS to the session of the TV and Radio Council and officially made aware them of the decision of the Council to terminate the activities of the channel, Maharramli said.
