Investigation of 66 Criminal Case against 150 People in Azerbaijan Complete

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / Zakir Garalov, the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, reported on 31 May that the Department on Struggle against Corruption at the Prosecutor General completed its investigation of sixty-six criminal cases against 150 people between 2005 and 2006, and in 2007.

The criminal cases of different officials, charged with bribery, abuse of power and other crimes were submitted to their corresponding bodies.

Some 285 criminal cases against 461 people charged with corruption were submitted to the Court.

Eleven criminal cases have been filed regarding the violation of the usage of gas, energy, water and misappropriation of money paid by residents for public utilities.

To solve these disadvantages the corresponding inquires were submitted to the Azerenergy, the Azeresu and the Azerigas companies of Azerbaijan.

The illegal release of prisoners and many other violations were revealed in the result of operative measures held by the Prosecutor General and the Judicial Ministry of Azerbaijan.

Criminal cases against seventy-two employees of the Penitentiary service were also submitted to the Court.
