Azerbaijan, Kuwait to Develop Energy Co-operation

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Aghayeva / Azerbaijan is interested in the development of energy co-operation with Kuwait, which has experience in this field, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, stated at a briefing on the 8th of June after the talks with the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, Mohammad as- Sabah .

Bilateral relations were discussed during the visit. Political bonds between the two countries are of a high level, Mammadyarov stated. Kuwait has always supported Azerbaijan in the international scene, as well as in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

An agreement on the opening of air flights between Azerbaijan and Kuwait along with the co-operation in the transport field was achieved at the talks.

According to Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, the two countries can actively co-operate within the framework of the Baku-Tbilisi- Kars railway project. Trains can go from Baku to Iraqi Basra city and onwards to Kuwait.

Mohammad as- Sabah stated that the opening of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Baku this year was a good example of their will for the Kuwaiti Government to develop co-operation with Azerbaijan. "We are interested in all-round development of co-operation," he said. According to the Kuwaiti Minister, the co-operation can cover such fields for the organization of a dialogue between civilization and the fight against Islamphobia .
