Georgian State Minister: Missile Attack on Georgia is Aggressive Act by Russia

Georgia, Tbilisi / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia / David Bakradzeh, the Georgian State Minister on Conflict Regulations, called it an 'aggressive act' by the neighboring country in violating Georgia's airspace with Russian aircrafts. Once we have obtained all the necessary technical information we will make an official statement," Bakradzeh stated.

The Georgian Internal Ministry has reported that the Russian aircraft SU-24mark violated the airspace of Georgia from the Kazbek region to Gori on 6 August at 19:30 hours. The Ministry noted that the Russian aircraft fired a missile of 'air-land' brand in the Tsitebulani village of Georgia. Georgia began investigations into the bombing and the experts of OSCE are also involved in the process. "Yesterday's attack against our country is an aggressive armed act," Bakradzeh noted.

Opposition parties have demanded tougher action in such a situation from the Government. "We should bring down any aircraft invading the Georgian airspace, otherwise they will violate the borders of Tbilisi," Georgi Tsagareishvili, one of the industrialists of Georgia said. The leader of Conservatives, Zviad Dzidziguri, considers that international organizations should be more active in reacting to such incidents.
