State Departments Must be Confident Human Rights not Violated Within Families – European Council Representative in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 31 March / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / The Council of Europe considers that human rights must be protected not only in public and prisons, but in families as well. "State departments should be confident that human rights are not violated in families and no violence used against women," Denis Bribosia, the Head of Council of Europe Baku Office, stated during the hearings 'Juridical aspects of protection from violence in families'.

In 2006, the Council of Europe began a campaign to prevent all forms of violence against women. The program will end in 2008 and member-countries of the campaign will deliver a report on work carried out in the sphere in Vienna in April. Azerbaijan will participate in this campaign.

According to Bribosia, violation of women's rights was observed in all European countries. "Every three days a woman becomes a victim of violence in France," he added.
