Bulgarian middle-distance runner Daniela Yordanova will miss the Beijing Olympics after testing positive for the steroid testosterone, it was announced on Saturday.
Bulgarian team spokesman Todor Shabinsky said that the b-sample was positive. Yordanova, who submitted the sample at a random test on June 13, faces a two-year-ban for the doping offence, dpa reported.
The 32-year-old, who was due to fly to China Saturday, was seen as a dark horse in next week's Olympic 1,500 metres race. She was fifth at the 2004 Games in Athens and won a bronze at the 2006 European championships.
