The Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) will solve problems connected with players lying about their ages within two or three years, AFFA Secretary General Elkhan Mammadov said.
"We must take realities into account when approaching this problem," he told Trend . "It is very difficult to solve this problem quickly."
Earlier the AFFA reported that its latest monitoring uncovered that several national U-19 girls football team football players wrongly indicated their birthdays on their birth certificates.
These players took part in the first qualifying round of the European U-19 Championship and were qualified for the Women's U-19 Elite Round.
"Although our national U-19 football team received the right to play in the Women's U-19 Elite Round, we sent a letter to UEFA refusing in respects for Fair Play rules," the AFFA head said.
According to Mammadov, the problem can be solved in stages.
"We must take into account international experience and the experience of European countries to accomplish our goals," he added. "THe AFFA began fighting the problem in early 2009."
He said parents and coaches should also help the AFFA address the issue.
