Trial over individual accused of fraud begins in Azerbaijan

A trial over individual accused of fraud began in Azerbaijan.

Today prosecutor read out an indictment at the Serious Crimes Court on criminal case of Sumgayit resident Rashid Mehtiyev, accused of fraud causing large damage.

In 2008 Mehtiyev promised to transfer Baku resident Bahruz Maharramov's daughter, who study at Baku State University to Azerbaijan Medical University. The accused took for it 60,000 manat from Maharramov. Mehtiyev has not fulfilled his promise and misappropriated the money.

Mehdiyev took money in the amount of 17,000 manat from Baku residents Elman Musayev and Rza Mammadov promising to arrange their children in the Baku Branch of Moscow State Open University, which he also did not do.

Mehtiyev is charged under Article 178.3.2 (fraud with causing serious damage) of the Criminal Code.
