As a result of operational activities conducted by the Ministry of National Security (MNS), persons smuggled to import a large shipment of drugs and diamonds were detained, the Center for Public Affairs of the Ministry said on Tuesday.
A citizen of Azerbaijan - Tagiyev Ramil, the citizens of the republic of Iran - Avizak Hassan, Sakanlu Hamza, as well as an Iranian citizen named Mahmud (the identity is established), entered into a conspiracy, secretly brought large party of drugs, bypassing customs controls at the border from Iran to Azerbaijan in order to sell.
As a result of the special operations carried out the smugglers were arrested and a total of 572.3 grams of heroin were revealed and seized.
As a result of other operational activities conducted by the MNS, individuals who secretly imported diamonds in the amount of 110.93 carats into the country through smuggling were detained.
Citizens of Azerbaijan Rzayev Mamed and Ramiz Ibragimov, entering into agreement, organized the purchase of a large number of diamonds in Dubai for sale and organized their illegal transportation to Azerbaijan.
Criminal cases were filed over all facts.
The MNS began criminal cases under Art. 206.3.2 (moving across the customs border of the Azerbaijan Republic of narcotic drugs, psychotropic, toxic, poisonous, radioactive, explosive substances and explosive devices, military weapons and equipment (except for smooth-bore hunting weapon and ammunition), 234.4.1 (illegal purchase or possession for sale, manufacture, production, processing, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances by a group of persons by prior collusion or by an organized group) and 234.4.3 (manufacture, acquisition, storage, transfer, transportation or sale of precursors for the illicit manufacture and processing of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances in large amount) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
These persons were involved as perpetrators, and arrested by a court decision as a preventive measure.
