The UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture (SPT) is to return to Azerbaijan after receiving assurances from the Azerbaijani authorities, according to a message posted on the website of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
The message said the SPT's September 2014 mission in Azerbaijan was suspended after it encountered obstructions in carrying out its mandate.
The date of the SPT's visit is yet to be announced.
The SPT's activities aim to prevent torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
