GUBA, Azerbaijan, September 26. At the Grace of Nature rhythmic gymnastics tournament, held over 3 days in Guba, talented gymnasts from the capital and 17 Azerbaijani regions showcased their remarkable skills, General Secretary of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation Nurlana Mammadzade said, Trend reports.
Speaking about the tournament, she noted that performances were held across 10 age groups in categories A and B.
"The competition included both individual and group routines, with different gymnastic apparatuses used based on age categories. I think that holding such events is crucial for athletes to experience the competitive atmosphere from an early age. For instance, we had competitors born in 2018, just 6 years old. Gymnastics, like all sports, instills a sense of discipline in our athletes. I believe everything begins with discipline, and sports start with gymnastics," she added.
The competition is attended by 255 athletes from 26 clubs.
The gymnasts compete in the following age categories: minors (born 2017-2018), youngsters (born 2014-2016), pre-juniors (born 2012-2013), and juniors (born 2009-2011). In the individual event, medals are contested in the all-around and for specific apparatus, while in group exercises, participants perform only with individual apparatus.
The tournament features athletes from different clubs around the country, which adds a special interest to the competition. The Grace of Nature tournament gives young gymnasts a great opportunity to demonstrate their skills and gain experience.
