Additional funds allocated for construction of Tashkent Pharma Park in Uzbekistan

Government of Uzbekistan has allocated $50 million for construction of Tashkent Pharma Park – first pharmaceutical cluster of Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkata Mirziyoyev signed a decree on financing the creation of Tashkent Pharma Park.

The document was adopted in order to accelerate the development of research and production base of pharmaceutical industry, as well as to expand its capacity to produce modern effective medicine for diagnosis and treatment of infectious and other diseases.

The funds will be allocated from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan.

Borrower of Fund's resources is Agency for Development of Pharmaceutical Sector under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan. Expenses related to the repayment and servicing of the loan will be carried out at the expense of proceeds from the sale of facilities and rental of premises in the cluster, as well as funds of the Pharmaceutical Sector Support and Development Fund under the Agency.

The cluster, which will consist of a technopark and an industrial zone, will occupy 79 hectares of territory. More than 1700 jobs are planned to be created through the implementation of 14 investment projects.

The construction of the Tashkent Pharma Park in Zangiata district of Tashkent region began on April 17, 2020.

Ukrainian Farmak company is one of the foreign partners in the implementation of investment projects in the new cluster.
