ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 15. Kazakhstan intends to modernize railway transport to enhance the capacity of the China-EU transit corridor, Trend reports.
This is provided for by the "Program for the Development of Railway Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2029," which was submitted for public discussion by the Ministry of Transport.
The program calls for building a new 320-kilometer Kyzylzhar-Moyynty line, second tracks on Zharyk-Sekseul and Aktobe-Iletsk, and automatic blocking on Sekseul-Kyzylzhar.
At the same time, the program envisages the development of 45 separate points in the above sections.
It is expected that the implementation of these measures will increase capacity by 5 times, as well as increase the possibility of passing trains by 3.8 times.
To date, 13 international transport corridors have been formed and are in operation in Kazakhstan, including 5 railways and 8 roads.
Furthermore, about $30 billion has been invested in the transport and logistics infrastructure of Kazakhstan over the past 10 years.
Moreover, major transportation infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan will require at least 40 billion euros in the next five years.
