BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. Neqsol Holding's industrial and construction representative Israil Asaliyev believes that sustainable development issues in Azerbaijan's construction sector can be divided into several important topics, Trend reports.
Addressing the Sustainable Construction Summit held in Baku on May 15, Asaliyev noted that attention should be paid to environmental issues in both the construction process and the production of construction materials.
According to him, on the first issue, the energy efficiency of buildings is an urgent problem, as it is necessary to adhere to expedient, economical energy consumption in apartments and non-residential premises.
He mentioned that for this purpose, to ensure both the strength and energy efficiency of buildings, it is necessary to utilize construction technologies that combine cement-based and insulation building materials.
"As for the production of construction materials, there should be less greenhouse gas emissions in this process, and this is very important in connection with Azerbaijan's international obligations. Greenhouse gas emissions are controlled, for example, in the production of cement in Azerbaijan and should also be taken into account in the production of different types of construction materials," he added.
To note, cement production is the source of significant greenhouse gas emissions, and that is why the EU will introduce import duties on carbon-intensive products, including imported cement, starting in 2026.
