BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. The World Bank (WB) is looking forward to further supporting women and girls in Azerbaijan to develop their digital skills, Country Manager for the WB in Azerbaijan Stefanie Stallmeister said at the GSMA M360 Eurasia 2024 conference in Baku on May 15, Trend reports.
"The World Bank is implementing a program in Azerbaijan that is primarily aimed at creating a regulatory framework and addressing cybersecurity issues. This mainly involves advising the government on regulatory and legal matters," she said.
She stressed that efforts have been made to support women's digital skill development through studies that have focused on this topic specifically.
According to her, the level of basic literacy in Azerbaijan is relatively high, but there are issues with digital literacy.
"Now it's important to ensure that everyone can confidently use digital services on a daily basis," she also said, adding that building trust in digital services and ensuring their comfortable use is critically important.
To note, the GSMA M360 Eurasia 2024 international conference is taking place in Baku, spanning from May 15 through May 16.
