ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 15. Turkmenistan held auctions on its State Commodity and Raw Material Exchange last week, where deals on the sale of raw materials totaling almost $41.8 million were concluded, Trend reports.
According to the exchange, this is more than twice as much as in the previous reporting period, during which the cost of raw materials sold amounted to $18.8 million.
For foreign currency, entrepreneurs from the UAE, Türkiye, Afghanistan, and Ukraine purchased low-sulfur heating oil produced at the enterprise of the Turkmennebit State Concern as well as carbamide manufactured by the Turkmenhimiya State Concern.
Furthermore, businessmen from Azerbaijan and Türkiye bought denim fabric, cotton yarn, regenerated fiber from textile waste, and cotton waste for a total of over $41.8 million in foreign currency.
For the domestic market, Turkmen entrepreneurs purchased polypropylene and base oil (Turkmennebit State Concern), as well as flat glass, for a total of more than 15.2 million Turkmen manat ($4.3 million).
Last week's auctions of Turkmenistan's State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange yielded 20 transactions.
On July 29, 1994, Turkmenistan established the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange. It is the most important body of state regulation for export-import operations.
