Iran unveils volumes of loans extended to agricultural sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. Iranian banks extended loans worth about 102 trillion rials (about $2.42 billion) in the agricultural sector in the first month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 20, 2024), the statistics of Iran's Central Bank said, Trend reports.

The statistics show that 74.9 trillion rials (about $1.78 billion) worth of loans were granted as working capital in the agricultural sector.

According to statistics, loans worth about 17.4 trillion rials (about $413 million) were issued in the first month for setting up businesses in the agricultural sector, building orchards, and farmlands.

The information indicates that loans worth about 6.6 trillion rials (about $157 million) were granted in the first month to develop Iran's agricultural sector.

Moreover, the statistics show that 2.58 trillion rials (about $61.6 million) worth of loans were issued in the agricultural sector for self-employment, 200 billion rials (about $4.76 million) for the purchase of personal assets, and 3 billion rials (about $71,400) for renovation works.

To note, Iranian banks issued loans worth 2.05 quadrillion rials (about $48.9 billion) last year.
