Customs agencies of Russia and Azerbaijan to exchange information about goods and vehicles from 2010

Today, between customs authorities of Azerbaijan and Russia there is not well developed system of exchange of preliminary information about goods and vehicles crossing the border, the chief of the head department of information technologies of the Federal Customs Service of Russia Alexei Shashayev said Dec. 21 in Baku at the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference "Information systems and technologies in the customs sphere".  

"But this is one of the key processes that must be provided with information," said Shashayev.

According to him, in all countries that trade with each other, there are common customs processes and of course, these processes should be information provided. One country exports, other one imports, and the exchange of information assumes great importance between countries that have a common border.  

Shashayev said that from next year the customs bodies of Russia and Azerbaijan will exchange information about goods and vehicles.

"We will bring into order the external statistics of mutual trade between Russia and Azerbaijan, we will apply those developments that exist in our field of information technology in customs operations," said Shashayev.

Baku hosts the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference on "Information systems and technologies in the customs sphere".

The discussions will focus on formation of information interaction of CIS member countries, the conceptual foundations of public administration reformation, information society and media outlets, the prospects for the development of technologies and e-commerce systems in Azerbaijan, the numeral solution of optimal development of the oilfield, automated information system in urban infrastructure, measuring of e-readiness, and mono-version and multi-version models of the system of distributing databases, telecommunication basis of the information society, as well as the role of improved information and communication systems in customs improvement.
