Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today inaugurated the Sinigkorpu frontier customs station in Azerbaijani region of Gazakh, AzerTaj state news agency reported.
Chairman of the State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev informed the president that customs service in Azerbaijan develops as much as other fields in the country.
Construction of the new Sinigkorpu customs station, major gateway on the Azerbaijan-Georgia border, was completed in October 2010. The demise around the station was improved with green area expanded. The three-storey administrative building of the station was also constructed here along with auxiliary ones. This well-equipped station is second to none in the South Caucasus.
The president saw the photographs depicting previous and present look of the station.
President Aliyev was told that construction of the new cargo terminal would begin here in the future.
The administrative building houses classrooms and well-equipped operations room.
The Azerbaijani leader also learnt about the Sinigkorpu historical and architectural monument, which is scheduled to be restored in the future.
The president gave his recommendations and instructions after touring the customs checkpoint.
