Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, March 27
By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:
The Turkmen-Iranian business forum will be held in Ashgabat on March 27, 2018, the Turkmen government said in a message.
The meeting, which will take place in the building of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the capital of Turkmenistan, is aimed at intensifying the partnership of business circles of the two countries.
Leaders of key structures of the Iranian economy, representatives of companies working in construction and energy, mining, in the textile and medical industries, agriculture, trade, transport and logistics, engineering and insurance are expected to attend the business forum.
Iran is the third most important foreign trade partner of Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan mainly exports natural gas to Iran.
Meanwhile, the country supplies Iran with oil products, electricity, and textile goods.
The Turkmen market receives vegetables, fruits, construction materials, products from ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, ceramics, and vehicles from Iran.
Strengthening cooperation with Iran can help in expanding Turkmenistan’s exports to many other countries through the Persian Gulf terminals, as well as via pipeline, railway infrastructure and power transmission lines.
During the years of long-term cooperation, the two countries implemented a number of major economic projects. One of them is a gas pipeline commissioned in 1996 along the Korpezhe-Kurt-Kui route, as well as the Dovletabat-Serakhs-Hangeran transit line built in recent years.
The two neighboring countries built the “Dostluk” border dam and completed the North-South railway project on the basis of the trilateral agreement signed in 2007 with the participation of Turkmenistan, Iran and Kazakhstan.
