ISMA Bikes, an Azerbaijani bicycle manufacturer, plans to start exporting its products from the beginning of 2019, Elchin Gahramanov, the company's general director, told Trend.

Turkey, Iran, Russia and other CIS countries are the priority countries for export.

ISMA Bikes began selling bicycles in mid-2017. In 2017, the company began negotiations with representatives of other countries, in particular Georgia and the United Arab Emirates, on the supply of bicycles.

Despite the short period of activity of the company's only plant in Ismayilli district, there is high demand in the domestic market.

"Now we are selling bicycles in Baku, Barda, Khachmaz, Sumgait and Mingachevir. In the future, we are planning to sell in other regions as well," Gahramanov said, adding that at this stage the company is only working with dealers.

One of the reasons for the high demand is a relatively low cost and a wide range of about 50 kinds of bicycles. The prices vary from 70 to 2,500 manats.

"The prices for our bicycles are lower than those of foreign analogues, while we use Japanese spare parts and provide a guarantee for products for a period of one year," said Gahramanov.

"It will be possible to increase the production of bicycles in 2020. Now the production capacity of the plant is 30,000 bicycles and this capacity fully meets domestic demand," he added.
