In 2018, Uzbekistan’s GDP growth will be 4.9 percent, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) said in its updated review of the development of Asia for 2018.

Back in April 2018, the bank predicted that the economy of Uzbekistan in 2018 will grow by 5.5 percent.

The ADB experts has also lowered their forecast for GDP growth in Uzbekistan in 2019 from 5.6 percent to 5 percent.

The main reason for the decline is the lingering consequences of last year’s devaluation of the Uzbek soum, the bank’s report read.

ADB noted that inflation in Uzbekistan in 2018 will be 16 percent, and in 2019 - 14 percent.

Earlier it was reported that in January-September 2018, inflation in the country amounted to 8.1 percent. Prices for goods on average increased by 1.9 percent, for services – by 1.2 percent.
