Number of small enterprises increases in Kazakhstan

The number of small enterprises active in Kazakhstan increased by 13 percent in March 2019 and amounts to 157,100, Trend reports via Finprom.

In March 2019 the number of operating small enterprises amounted to 279,900 with an annual increase of 9.3 percent. Some 56.1 percent of them account for active enterprises (54.3 percent last year).

The largest number of small enterprises by region is situated in Almaty and Nur-Sultan (former Astana), some 36,000 and 25,000 respectively. Taken together the number increased by 23.7 percent.

Furthermore. Some 10,400 of enterprises are in Karaganda Region, as well as some 9,900 in East Kazakhstan Region and 7,900 in Almaty Region.

Some 57.2 percent of the active small business of the country accounts for these five regions.

The major amount of small enterprises accounts for wholesale, retail and auto repair spheres: 23.8 percent (37,300 enterprises), which is 15.8 percent more than in the previous year (32,000).

It is followed by construction sphere with 15,900 of active enterprises with an annual increase of 26.7 percent and by education sphere with 15,200 of active enterprises with an annual increase of 5.6 percent.
