Turkmenistan collects first tomato harvest, exports most of it

Turkmenistan has collected its first tomato harvest in the amount of 800 tons, Trend reports via the "Zolotoy Vek" (Golden Age) newspaper.

The tomatoes were grown in the greenhouse of an individual enterprise Altyn tug.

Two thirds of this volume was exported to Russia and Kyrgyzstan at once.

An agricultural complex with an area of 12 hectares was put into operation at the end of 2019 in etrap (administrative and territorial unit of Turkmenistan) named after S. A. Niyazov of Dashoguz velayat (region).

On the territory of Altyn tug, a greenhouse was built for all-the-year-round growing of vegetables and strawberries. The greenhouse is equipped with new generation technologies.

Such technologies allow to minimize costs, increase productivity, efficiency of a business project.

Today, the farm grows 12 varieties of tomatoes, two varieties of bell peppers and three varieties of strawberries. Vegetables, berries, the way how they can be adapted to the conditions of the Northern region of the country are being tested.

The most persistent and productive varieties will become the basis for future harvests. In addition to the products already sold, Dashoguz entrepreneurs will collect at least 1,600 tons of tomatoes in the first half of the year.
