Iran's president stresses need to implement irrigation projects

TEHRAN, Iran, March. 23

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani asked Minister of Energy Reza Ardakanian about the latest irrigation plans for the New Year and the implementation of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission decisions in a phone call on March 23.

In a telephone conversation with the minister, the head of state noted the need of the implementation of the country's water projects necessary and urged allocation of necessary funds to accelerate the implementation of irrigation projects, especially the irrigation and drainage at 20,000 hectares of agricultural land, Trend reports citing ILNA.

The president also stressed that these plans should be completed in the first half of this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2020).

Referring to talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Rouhani emphasized the importance of implementation of the resolutions and decisions of the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission.

In turn, Reza Ardakanian who is the co-chairman of commission from Iranian side reported the head of state on the latest commission activities.
