Construction materials worth 264.7 million manat ($156 million) were produced in Azerbaijan from January through May 2020, which is 9.3 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing data of the State Statistical Committee on June 15.
In the first 5 months of current year, the production volume of building gypsum amounted to 6,500 tons, building bricks – 191,100 cubic meters, indicating an increase of 17.7 percent.
The production volume of ready-mixed concrete increased by 4.4 percent and amounted to 635,800 tons.
The volume of production of processed marble, travertine and alabaster and their products made up 7.5 million tons, a decrease by half, prefabricated concrete structures – 16,800 cubic meters, an increase of 0.6 percent.
Over the reporting period, the two-fold decrease was observed in asphalt and cement production to 58,500 tons and 1.2 million tons respectively.
The decrease also was observed in the production of building blocks and bricks made of cement, artificial stone or concrete – 13,500 tons, showing the decrease of 3.3 times.
