BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 28. Kazakhstan government officials are active participants in WTO e-learning activities, the WTO official told Trend.
Commenting on the development of Kazakhstan-WTO relations over the past few years, the official said that since 1 January 2019, Kazakhstan has been invited to a large number of virtual and in person Trade related Technical Assistance (TRTA) activities, both global ones and at the regional level organized for the countries in Central & Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus (CEECAC).
“In 2016 the University of International Business in Almaty (UIB) was selected to host the Regional Trade Policy Courses (RTPC) for CEECAC countries for the following 4-year cycle. Three RTPCs were held in Almaty (in 2017, 2018, and 2019). A fourth RTPC, scheduled to take place from September to November 2020, was postponed in August 2020 due to COVID-related constraints. An online RTPC scheduled in 2022 was cancelled due to a low number of applicants,” the official said.
Adding that Kazakhstan government officials are active participants in WTO e-learning activities the official noted that Kazakhstan government officials have benefited from the various programmes on offer.
“Moreover, Kazakhstan also benefited previously from the WTO Young Professionals Programme (YPP), and currently has a YP attached to the Rules Division, Ms Assem Shakirtova, who is also a government official,” the official concluded.
