Latvian Business-delegation to Visit Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr I. Khalilova / A Latvian business-delegation led by Foreign Minister Artis Pabriks, will be on a visit to Azerbaijan from 16 to 18 April. The Latvian Economy Minister, Yuris Strods, informed that the business delegation will include banking specialists, specialists involved in woodworking, information technologies and food production.

"At present time Azerbaijani and Latvian businessmen have less contacts, though the tendency of the past 2 years show that the bilateral relations are on progress. So, we want a group of Latvian businessmen to visit Azerbaijan in April so that not to lose this tendency. We hope that Azerbaijani businessmen who are keen on cooperation will also visit Latvia," the Minister added.

Latvia possesses unique experience in transition from GOST standards of the former Soviet Union to European Union. "If Azerbaijani businessmen are interested in trading with the EU, it would be easier to study experience of other countries, such as Latvia, which has similar history. "We had transited to this system from 2002 to mid-2006, while after 10-15 year all problems will remain in the past," Strods noted.
