Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / An inter-governmental agreement on cooperation in international sea navigation is expected to be signed during the upcoming visit of Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, to Astana on 7-8 August in order to provide for efficient coordination of navigation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, according to the Azerbaijani Government. The document was designed by the Kazakh Transport and Communications Ministry and has already been coordinated with the interested bodies of both countries.

Azerbaijani and Kazakhstan Transport Ministries also consider it necessary to view the issue on making a principal decision on provision of bilateral loading of the railway-ferry portion of Aktau-Baku. Kazakhstan suggested that the Azerbaijani Caspian Sea Shipping cut the cost of transportation of carriages via Baku-Aktau-Baku.

The Kazakh side also asks for the return of part of the carriages which have been in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic since 1991 (sixty-seven carriages). The Azerbaijani Government has intentions to do so at the expense of the Azerbaijani carriage fleet.
