Georgia Ceases Electricity Supply to Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Aliyev / Azerbaijan will return the electricity to Georgia in autumn-winter period when Georgia usually feels deficit in it, Azerenerji joint-stock company said on 11 September.

At present Azerbaijan's debt to Georgia for electricity supply is approximately 20mln KW/h. At present electricity supply from Georgia to Azerbaijan is supplied in accordance with schedule.

Electricity supply from Georgia to Azerbaijan is explained with seasonal surplus in production in Georgia. The electricity flows are carried out on the basis of agreement concluded on 29 November 2006.

Earlier, Natik Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Minister for Energy and Industry, said that during the meeting with Nika Gilauri, the Georgian Energy Minister, he discussed an issue on possible payment for electricity supply through import of Azerbaijani gas.
