Ekol CJSC conducts ecological monitoring in industrial zones of operating company in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan.29 / Trend corr E. Ismayilov / Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri CJSC held an ecological monitoring in industrial zones of Kursengi and Karabakhli fields within a contract signed with operating company Salyan Oil which exploits these fields, a source at the closed join-stock company said on Jan.29. Ekol will conduct recultivation of drilling and hydrocarbon sledge in these industrial zones within the contract. 

About 40,000 cubic meters of sledge were stores up in the industrial zones according to the initial research. The realization of the project will commence on Jan.5 and finish by 2009. Design estimates begin after the ecological monitoring.

The basic significance of this project is improvement of ecological condition of the fields, extension of cooperation with new partners of the company and improvement of economical capacity of the enterprise in terms of the world financial crisis.

The physical and geographic condition of the project zones was studied during the monitoring. A numerous samples of the soil, sledge and water were taken to study the chemical characteristics of the drilling sledge. The coordinates, quantity, and parameters of numerous water accumulations in the project zones were also defined. 

The design estimates will be launched after the summation of the monitoring.

Salyan Oil is engaged in development of Azerbaijan's Kursangi-Garabagh onshore field. Validity period of the contract is twenty five years. The shareholders of the project are SOCAR - 50 percent, two Chinese companies - China National Oil & Gas Exploration and Development Corp. (CNODC) and CNPC (Hong Kong) Ltd. (CNPCHK) with 25 percent share each.

Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri was co-founded in March 2006 to solve ecological problems in Absheron by: Socar (51 percent) and Lancer S.A. Services (49 percent).
