Nabucco announces terms of EPC contractors’ pre-qualification

Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH announced terms of starting the pre-qualification of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors.

The pre-qualification of potential EPC contractors will be started in the first quarter of 2012, Nabucco Gas Pipeline International reported on Wednesday.

Nabucco gas pipeline is one of the Southern gas Corridor projects, which is designed to transport gas from the Caspian region and Middle East to the European countries.

The project's partners include the Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and the German RWE.

Gas, which will be produced during the second stage of Azerbaijani Shah Deniz gas condensate field development is considered as the main source for the project.

The project, worth 7.9 billion euro, is planned to start construction in 2013 and the first supplies will be commissioned in 2017. The total length of the pipeline is 3900 kilometres, maximum capacity - 31 billion cubic metres per year.

Under an EPC contract, the contractor will design the installation, procure the necessary materials and construct it, either through own labour or by subcontracting part of the work.
